📜 KHUTBAH: WELCOMING THE MONTH OF RAMADAN
1. Welcoming the Month of Mercy
O servants of Allah! We are about to welcome the blessed month of Ramadan, the month of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation from the Hellfire. It is the best month of the year, where Allah multiplies rewards, forgives sins, and accepts the prayers of His servants.
Allah ﷻ says in the Quran:
"O you who have believed, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those before you, that you may attain taqwa (piety)."
This shows that fasting is not just about abstaining from food and drink but about building piety, sincerity, and self-discipline.
2. The Rewards of Ramadan
Rasulullah ﷺ said:
"Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven."
In another Hadith, he ﷺ said:
"When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained."
This means Ramadan is a golden opportunity for us to turn to Allah, seek His forgiveness, and increase in good deeds.
3. The Quran and Ramadan
Ramadan is also the month of the Quran. Allah ﷻ says:
"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion."
Let us increase our recitation of the Quran, reflect upon its meanings, and implement it in our daily lives.
4. The Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr)
One of the greatest blessings of Ramadan is Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Power. Allah ﷻ says:
"The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months."
It is a night where worship and good deeds are multiplied immensely, and the angels descend with peace and mercy.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever stands (in prayer) on Laylatul Qadr out of faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven."
5. Advice to the Ummah
Dear brothers and sisters, let us prepare for Ramadan by:
✅ Renewing our intentions and seeking Allah’s pleasure.
✅ Increasing our acts of worship, such as prayer, charity, and dhikr.
✅ Repenting from our sins and seeking forgiveness.
✅ Maintaining good relationships and forgiving others.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Fasting is a shield (from Hellfire and sins)."
Let us use this blessed month to strengthen our faith, build our character, and seek Allah’s mercy.
Conclusion: A Dua for Ramadan
May Allah bless us in this Ramadan, accept our fasts, prayers, and good deeds, and grant us His mercy and forgiveness.
